In this blog, Glen Mourning, an elementary reading teacher and author talks about his reasoning for writing The Crunchy Life kid’s series chapter books. He writes about the difficulties he encountered, prior to writing his series, with his students’ frustration of the lack of representation in literature assigned to them. The Crunchy Life kid’s series represents the fact that life can be “crunchy” at times and teaches youth to keep going despite these difficulties.
