Native American Students In Utah Are Getting Pushed Out Of School At Alarming Rates

Native American students demonstrate disproportionate rates of suspension, expulsion, and referrals to law enforcement, most noticeably in Utah, in comparison to white students and other minority groups, contributing to a “school-to-prison” pipeline of Native Americans. These differences may be due to the assimilationist past of the United States and the mistreatment of Native Americans.
