A mother discusses the anguish, lack of protection, and safety concerns that consume the lives of parents of children of color. Not only are their children more susceptible to facing racism every time they step outside their home, but their lives are put at risk too, especially when stepping into territory where they “don’t belong.” It’s challenging for parents to go on with their day watching assault after assault and death after death of people who look just like their loved ones, simply because of their skin color.
