Education and Criminalization: Do Black Lives Matter in Schools

As more and more is written about the ways society enacts anti-Blackness and white supremacy against Black youth, less addressed in many reading lists & syllabi is the role education plays. The goal of this work is to highlight how schools (re)produce criminalization of Black youth. Education has a reckoning to do around the ways it constructs criminals from the behaviors and learning of Black youth. Many scholars are engaging these issues in ways that refuse to pathologize Black youth.
