That Got Weird confronts the uncomfortable in hopes of bridging the divides. This series reveals true stories of racism experienced by Indigenous, Black, Asian, Latine and other people of color in Minnesota. Along with a promise of anonymity, each subject interviewed has a hand in designing their own character and giving it a pseudonym. Jo points out that racism and microaggressions don’t always come from white people—internalized racism is real and harmful. Whether within her own community or in inner-city youth, Jo talks about her opinions and experiences with internalized racism, the way we process racism, and how to be better than our mistakes.
